AK Cruising, bonus ski video

Okay, there's a big collection of stuff in this post. Most of it is from the ridiculously luxurious cruise on the Montego that AP and I were lucky enough to experience, thanks to Andy and Mica. There's a great video that Andy put together and a bunch of pictures -- I'll pluck out some of the better pictures with a few stories from the trip, then put up a gallery at the end. The video above really captures the trip well, so watch that for sure if you have ten minutes.

The other is a ski video that Andy put together from a trip in early July, 2011. Lots of cute puppies.

This whole trip came about pretty quickly, because Andy's parents weren't able to go. We jumped on the opportunity and were soon on a flight to Sitka.

The boat was luxurious -- 4 staterooms, each with its own head. Back deck salon, interior salon with couches and a big TV, separate dining room. Really spectacular.

Of course there was a full bar.

The days started with coffee in large supply and wandered their way through breakfast, exercise, naps, boat rides, hot springs, kayaking, lunch, wildlife watching, movies, naps again, reading, games, drinking and dinner. It was easily the most relaxing trip I've ever experienced.

Anastasia caught a 65 pound halibut, Andy taught us all a bunch of jujitsu, we polished off cocktail after cocktail with glacier ice cubes... All while watching the world go by on the other side of the gunwale. The wildlife highlight of the trip (apart from Tundra's morning poop-boat-rides to the beach) was getting to witness humpback whales bubblenet feeding -- a cooperative technique that traps their prey in a net of bubbles, making them an easy target when all the whales surface together, mouths open, for their meal.

Fantastic.

And here's the whole kit & kaboodle:
