An Unveiling? Or Not...

If Anastasia and I were doing this remodel we'd be lucky to have the cabinets removed by now, assuming we'd taken the last two weeks off from work. Instead, the base cabinet boxes are already 98% installed and the upper cabinets will probably be going in tomorrow.

Everything is looking great, though when John Adams had the kitchen section added on to the house in the 50s he hired people who didn't know a right angle from a hole in the wall. Perhaps they were the same folks that did the wiring. Whoever did it, Keith is having to do some very aggressive shimming and shaping so that all the cabinets are level and square -- I am SO happy we didn't try to take this on ourselves. It'll all be invisible to us once it's done, but the upper cabinets will be an inch or more out from the walls in spots, when all is said and done. Trim hides everything though.

The visual component of our program is going to shift a bit today. We've got the large, wide-angle progress shots that you've come to know and love, but we're going to reveal the big picture at a later date. The Pantengliopolis Kitchen Show will have a teaser ending for a day or two.
