Today was on the books as a rest day, so we slept in and took our time getting ourselves going. We had three tasks: rent a car, secure transportation from here to Punta Arénas at the end of the week, and the Secret Mystery Mission. The Mystery Mission was supposed to be the bulk of today's post, but due to a scheduling conflict the mission will take place tomorrow, so you'll have to wait. All four of you.
Once all our plans were laid, we took our new car (a cute little Renault with studded tires and a ski rack, reminding me of nothing more than Becky's Jesús, beefed up a bit) and went for a short tour back up in the Martial area. We stretched our legs for an hour or so and then retired to empanádas, calabaza soup (pumpkin) and various hot beverages. And cake. Big pieces of cake.
After sorting out some groceries, we're back and settling in for the night, so I'll finally be able to toss out a few pictures, in no particular order. Enjoy (if I can get the internet down here to work tonight)!

Hey Marcus,
ReplyDeleteYour smile says it all in that last picture :)
Can't wait to hear the details.
Whoa...meat. Was that all for you?!?! And who's the Fluffy McFlufferton in the third pic? Oh wait...that's a Latin American dog so I guess it would be Mullido San Mullidista or something...and yes I had to look up the translation for "Fluffy" (mullido) and I'm pretty sure the word Mullidista does not exist in the Spanish language, but it's my prerogtaive as a former Spanish major to make up words. :)
ReplyDeleteJesus needs studded tires and a ski rack...totally.
I'm so happy I get to ski and eat vicariously through you. Wait . . .
ReplyDeleteFinally, some pictures!!!!! The terrain is incredible ... I am green with envy.
ReplyDeleteCan you please smuggle that pupper home for me? PPLLEEAASSEE!!! I need to smoosh him.
